The San Leandro Historical Railway Society will hold its annual Halloween train show on Tuesday, October 28. Today was a success as the first day of the June show. We had a fair amount of interest in the items available in our yard sale. Due to popular demand we will also be running the yard sale on Sunday. We will have many trains running, come down and see us.
Today we had two booths at the Girl Scouts 100th anniversary celebration, which was held at the Alameda Country Fairgrounds. We had one booth for the depot, with a small O scale display running trains and a cable car project; in the second booth we had the Operation Lifesaver booth to promote railroad safety. Work has been continuing at a feverish pace in the area of the HO display representing San Leandro. The building representing the Del Monte fruit packing plant have been installed with only detailing and lighting left to complete. This Saturday saw more progress on the ground-cover between Oleum and the Oakland yard on the HO scale display. Currently underway in this area is a small cemetery. Tuesday was a pretty laid back day down at the depot. Early in the day some work was done on the G&O display, but the HO display had several members running trains in the evening.
