Lots of HO scale trains and more Oleum scenery

Posted on September 7, 2011 by DominicF

Tuesday evening saw many of the members running their HO scale trains.  One of the freights being run was the longest that I have ever seen on the layout, with 70+ cars (if I remember correctly).  Unfortunately this train did not make it up the large helix, and had two different break-aways. I ran my…

Posted on September 3, 2011 by DominicF

This Saturday was an eventful day down at the depot.  On the HO scale display more scenery work was done in the Selby/Oleum area of the layout.  Several members were running trains today, including a very nice model of the California Zephyr and of the Empire Builder.  These trains were joined by a passenger consist…

The Ops Session That Didn’t Happen

Posted on August 30, 2011 by DominicF

An ops session was scheduled for tonight but unfortunately it was not to be.  After figuring out all of the problems with the various locomotives it was too late to actually run.  Instead the members just ran their trains as they preferred. We will give it another try next month.

Saturday August 27: Work and Play

Posted on August 28, 2011 by DominicF

Saturday was an eventful day down at the depot with members both working and running trains on the G&O and also on the HO scale displays. Of interest on the O gauge portion of the G&O was the successful running of an antique tin train with several coaches. On the HO scale display we had…

Posted on June 5, 2011 by DominicF

A note from the San Leandro Historical Railway Society President, Joe Barker. We had another successful summer show this weekend. We had a extremely good attendance both days.  This was especially surprising Saturday morning when it was raining heavily. The weather was beautiful most of today.  Both the HO and G&O railroads were running and…

Work has been continuing at a furious pace to get at least one loop of track completed on the G&O to be ready for the open house this coming weekend. Work has also been progressing on the HO scale layout, mostly in the area of sound and some light up signs. Here are some pictures…

Saturday March 19th.

Posted on March 19, 2011 by DominicF

Today was a slow day at the club mostly due to the weather. Further planning was done by the members of the G&O as it was to wet and muddy to move any more dirt today. Inside on the HO layout a couple of member were running trains, including Thomas much to the delight of…
