We’re gearing up for this weekend’s open house! Have you RSVP’d on Facebook? Our members have been busy the last few weeks qualifying their trains, cleaning the depot, and baking delightful goodies for our Bake Sale! Since it’s Father’s Day weekend, we want to make sure all the dads spending their days with us have a terrific time. Need a quick gift this Sunday for Dad? We’re very excited to announce that we’ll be adding a new kind of fundraiser for this summer’s SLHRS Open House and Train Show! We will be offering a photo opportunity with your little conductor for just $5. Here’s a sample of what it will (sort of) look like!
This was a test picture taken by society Marketing manager Trisha Lyn Fawver, who will be the photographer at the Train Engineer Photo station this weekend during our open house. The final photo will have our switching lights about where Dominic’s behind is, and will be taken a little lower. Some Important Details:
- Photographs will be a $5 donation. For your donation, you will receive:
- 1 4″x6″ glossy photo
- A stiff cardboard photo folder
- Our undying appreciation!
- Only children will be allowed inside the cab, but parents or older children are welcome to take a picture with the train.
- We will have a brand new Engineers Cap for kids to wear in the photo.
- We’d love to use your photos here on our website and share them on Facebook, so we will ask you to sign a photograph release form (optional)
- If there is a line, you will be given a ticket to come back to the photo station to claim your photo with.

We will be running trains on both the inside HO Layout and the outside G&O Layout, hosting our Bake Sale, and having a good time! Here’s our open hours!
- Saturday June 14th – 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM
- Sunday June 15th – 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM
