The SLHRS is always looking for new people who are interested in participating in the Society’s activities. The attached membership document can be printed and brought to the depot.
The SLHRS holds monthly business meetings on the first Saturday of each month at 10:00 am via Zoom and at the Depot. Changes to this date are made by the President of the San Leandro Historical Railway Society.
Current levels of membership available & Dues:
Active Member: $15 per month
Associate Member: $20 per year
Student Member: $5 per month
There is a six (6) month probationary period for all levels of membership. This allows the SLHRS and the applicant to become acquainted with one another. Active members who have passed the probationary period receive a key to the depot which allows them access at any time.
Associate and Student memberships do not get a key to the Depot. Associate and student members may run trains when an active member is present.
Active Members who have passed their probationary period may run their own trains or trains belonging to the society. the HO layout is controlled by the NCE DCC system. The G&O layout is controlled by the Lionel Legacy system, conventional or battery power. Live steam is allowed as long as it is properly handled. Members are encouraged to bring their own throttles to operate the displays. According the society’s bylaws, active members are required to attend at least three monthly virtual business meetings, participate in one open house and log at least 12 hours of participation time per fiscal year. Active members have voting privileges and are eligible for election to the executive board.
Associate Members may run their own trains or trains belonging to the Society. An Associate Member does not have voting privileges nor are they eligible for election to the Executive Board. Associate Memberships are available for those wanting to participate but do not have the time to dedicate to regular committee participation or work with the Depot.
Student Members are individuals between the ages of 13 and 18. Student members are individuals that want to participate in Society activities which includes running trains. Upon their 18th birthday, they will be given the option of becoming an active or associate member.
Please clearly fill out the Membership Application below and submit in person. Applications must be submitted in person with the first month of probationary dues in a sealed envelope. Please put a completed application into the black donation box located in the HO Scale Display room.
