Since 2008 when the G&O Garden Railroad project was first started at the San Leandro Depot, the plans have included an awning over the layout to protect from excessive sun while operating the layout. Finally this year, we’ve installed it! Check out our installation crew of current SLHRS president Dominic Fawver, Jeff Zolfarelli, and George Downs putting up the awning and eldest society member Vern Cumins being the official ‘Grand Opening Consultant’ with the honor of turning the crank on the inaugural opening of the new awning!
