We’re excited to be participating in the National Garden Railway Convention with a booth representing the SLHRS! The convention takes place July 4th – 10th at the Santa Clara Convention Center.
Layout Tours!
The SLHRS’ G&O Garden Railway will be one of 7 stops on the NGRC’s East Bay / Livermore Bus Tour on Thursday, July 7th 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM. This open house for the G&O is available for registered attendees of the NGRC. Our G&O crew has been hard at work getting the outdoor layout revamped, renewed, and ready for large scale garden model railroaders from around the world to see our good work down at the Depot.
Exhibit Hall Booth!
The San Leandro Historical Railway Society will be represented at booth 410, near the Vendor Clinics. Our Historian Pat LaTorres has been working hard on restoring a visual display conveying the history of our 1898 SP Depot and the SLHRS for presentation. Members Nancy Lagomarsino and Jacques Verdier have also been working hard on our old model of the G&O Garden Railway to present at our booth as well. The Vendor Hall will be open for registered attendees July 7th 3:00 PM – 8:00 PM, July 8th 1:00 PM – 8:00 PM, & July 9th 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM.
Large Scale Train Show!
In the Vendor Hall on Saturday July 9th 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM, there will also be a Large Scale Train Show! This show will be open to the public for just $15 per adult and children are free! You can download a 2 for 1 coupon for adult admission. During the train show you can see 100 vendor & manufacturer booths, a number of renowned modular displays, and an interactive Children’s Layout! Our booth will be open and you can come on by during the trains show to see our new displays and learn a bit more! We’ll be next to other model railroading groups from all over the Bay Area, so it’s a great opportunity to learn more about all the fun railroads you can visit year-round!
Self-Guided Tours!
Last but not least, our G&O Garden Railway will be open to the public and any NGRC attendees making their way home on Sunday July 10th 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM. Visitors are welcome to come by and see all the fantastic improvements our crew has been making in preparation for this national convention. Admission is free but donations are always greatly appreciated! If you’re not going to be able to attend our Summer Open House & Train Show July 16-17, this is a prime opportunity for some #SundayFunday action with the whole family!
