For the first time ever, Santa will be stopping by the San Leandro Historical Railway Society to run his trains during our 2014 Winter Open House! He\’s agreed to let the wonderful boys & girls who will be there tell him what they want for Christmas and take pictures! Santa understands that we\’re trying to raise money to have our 116-year-old Southern Pacific depot painted soon, so he\’s asking that folks donate $10 and, in return, they\’ll get a great glossy 5\” x 7\” picture with him in his \”casual\” train wear!
Our 2014 Winter Open House and Train Show will happen December 13th & 14th from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM both days. We will also have our bake sale, our train sale, and offering raffle tickets for some awesome prizes – just in time for the holidays! We will also have a limited number of the classic hickory stripe train engineer hats for sale for the little tykes for just $5. Santa will be running his trains both Saturday and Sunday, with ample breaks to talk to the kids and take photos. We invite you all to come see the progress we\’ve made on the G & O Garden Railway in the back yard, all decked out for the holidays, and explore our indoor HO Scale layout that covers the Overland Pacific route from San Leandro to Sparks, NV. We\’re excited to share our love of trains, railroad history, and the rich history of the railroad in the San Leandro/East Bay area with the public!
All proceeds from our fundraising efforts during the Open House goes to the San Leandro Historical Railway Society, a 501(C)(3) Non-Profit Organization. Please read our Mission Statement & come on down to see us and help support our efforts to keep the rails alive in San Leandro!
Want to help us spread the word? You can download our 2014 Winter Open House flyers in either color or black & white to share with friends, family, schools, and neighbors! Thanks!
**UPDATE** Santa has to head back to the North Pole, so pictures on Sunday will only be available until noon!
